If you are a network administrator, you need to view and analyze the traffic which passes through the network. Thus, you will be able to prevent hacker attacks and also limit the amount of bandwidth which may be generated by network computers. Unfortunately, Windows doesn't include a tool for analyzing the network and it's required to install a 3rd party application for this purpose.

One such application is Capsa. This Windows application allows you to thoroughly analyze every protocol of your network, down to the smallest detail possible.

During the installation process, the user will need to enter a license key, which is sent to him by email. In order to receive the email with the license key, he will need to register on the program's website. When launching the application, it will automatically detect all the installed network adapters and will allow the user to select each one of them.

The main screen of Capsa shows the network activity in real-time, as text and also as a graph. Thus, the user will quickly know if there are applications which generate network traffic in the background.

By accessing the bottom graphical toolbar, the user will be able to perform several analysis tasks, according to various protocols, like HTTP, email, DNS, FTP and even instant messaging. In case the user is not sure what option to select, he can easily analyze all the protocols at once with a single mouse click. While the analysis is ongoing, the user is able to save the captured network packets to a file, for analyzing them later on.

What's more, he can print the analysis results to any regular printer. Another useful feature is the possibility of exporting the program configuration to a backup file, for re-using later on, in case the user reinstalls the program or the operating system.
